Men’s Hairstyle Trends 2016

Well, here we are – 2016! Let’s take a look at the five current men’s hairstyle trends we are seeing right now.

What you’ll see during this year is a lot of longer hairstyles – both with wild texturized hair on the top and a more loose and casual look.

The Pompadour

For the past few years, the pompadour has been extremely popular and it still plays an important role in men’s style for 2016.

The more classic style that was slicked back with extra hold pomades and lots of shine will be seen less except for men who like their hair cut on the shorter side. Now we are seeing more modern versions of the pomp that are longer, looser, and blow-dry to give some big hairstyles with movement.

If you want to pull off this look, you should consider the shape of your face. With a round face shape, the sides should be kept tight and with a narrow face shape, keeping the sides a bit longer with a slicked top.

To pull off the pompadour, styling products is a MUST HAVE. We recommend By Vilain hair wax. Apply it to damp hair for a controlled look with an abundance of texture.

The Fade

Fade hairstyles are extremely popular amongst men lately. The fade haircut is usually accompanied with shorter length haircuts, but now we see longer hair on top with a fade.

To achieve this look, let the hair grow on the top of your head and comb it over in a side part and slicked back.

The Undercut

Since this style works well with all kind of hair types, the undercut will continue to be popular.

The basic premise of this look is long layers on top of the head with closely cropped hair down the sides. The best part of this look is the easy styling. Since the hair on top is cut to work with the natural flow, little product or maintenance is required.

However, the disconnected undercut is the most popular variation of the classic undercut hairstyle. So what makes this one different than any other undercut? Well, it’s disconnected! Meaning the sides of the hair are short, and more importantly all one size. This creates a noticeable contrast between the sides of the hair and the top.

In this video tutorial, we show you how to get a disconnected undercut!

The Man Bun

The man bun has been a huge trend since 2013 – and it definitely still is! But why is the man bun so popular? Well, the man bun is, in fact, a very simple hairstyle and totally awesome at the same time. The only requirement is LONG HAIR! Depending on whether you want a full bun or a semi bun, you’ll need a little length to be able to tie your bun.

A man bun is a long hairstyle where you tie your hair into a single bun placed upon the crown area of the head. Other fun names for the man bun include “bro bun”, “hipster bun” or “dude bun”.

Side Swept Bang

The side swept bang is definitely a 2016-trend. The style is easy to care for and doesn’t require using too many sticky hair products or tons of hairspray. It’s great for framing your face and maintaining a fresh look.

It literally just takes a few seconds and the look lasts all day long. If you have naturally straight hair, a little dab of smoothing lotion and a few minutes with the blow dryer are all it will take to maintain your style.
